In correspondence of the 7th bus stop along Poetto, opposite the Marino Hospital, the Dog Beach stretches on the seashore for six thousand square meters, bordered by a net.

The dogs must have microchips and health certificates to attest their conditions. The owners are also required to collect the animal waste.

On the seafront there is a small fountain to offer our four-legged friends some refreshment. Dogs can also swim, accompanied by their owners and within the dedicated area bordered by buoys.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the seashore of Giorgino was the beach of Cagliari par excellence.

The construction of the first beach resorts  in town, first in the village of Sa Perdixedda (La Playa) and then in  Poetto Beach, gradually moved the attention of the inhabitants towards the latter, which grew rapidly in terms of transport services (the "new" beach, then renamed "the  beach of hundred thousand people", was in fact more distant than that of Giorgino).

Poetto became the favourite beach of Cagliari inhabitants, while Giorgino had deep morphological changes: the industrial harbour (commonly known as the canal) in fact isolated Giorgino, that, however, keeps important points of interest such as the church of Sant'Efisio, the first stage of the procession of May 1st , and the Fishermen Village, the seat of the annual Fish Festival.

Located between Capo Sant'Elia and Poetto Beach, Calamosca is a little sandy beach surrounded by amazing cliffs, which increase its charm. Well sheltered from the mistral, Calamosca is an ideal place for snorkeling and diving. During summer season it is possible to find a kiosk and a renting point for sea equipment. There are also two nightclubs nearby, open only in summer only, and a 3 stars hotel with a restaurant, open all year round.

“Cala Fighera” beach is located along the “Calamosca” cliff, in the direction of the “Devil’s Saddle” promontory, through numerous small inlets with a rocky and non-rocky character. The path on the promontory that leads to “Cala Fighera” beach also allows you to explore the whole “Devil’s Saddle” and the fortifications placed on its top.

The sea that bathes the beach of “Cala Fighera” has remarkable polychromes that vary from turquoise to emerald green, and, in the initial stretch, the seabed is low and pebbly.

Poetto Beach faces the Gulf of the Angels, on the southern coast of the island.

Even though the white sand dunes and the multi coloured casotti ( wooden constructions near the sea) belong to the past, the sandy shore preserves an incredible charm, enriched by the Promontory of the Devil's Saddle which dominates the port of Marina Piccola. These elements, together with the closeness to the city and the entertainment offered by  traditional baretti (wooden kiosks where it is possible to eat and drink something), make Poetto the favourite place for the inhabitants of Cagliari during summer season and also in any other sunny day in the rest of the year. The beachfront area offers also different kinds of services, as bed&breakfast, guesthouses, beach resorts, diving centres and surf schools.

Used for a long time by the Archaeological Superintendence as a deposit of materials from the excavations, the complex of San Pancrazio had already been destined to exhibitions in a project by Raffaello Delogu in the 1930’s.

At the end of the 15th century, due to the Turkish incursions, the Viceroy Juan Dusay decided to strengthen the system of fortifications of Cagliari.

A second wall and a moat were built close to the medieval tower of San Pancrazio to defend the northern side of the fortifications. Soon this system became obsolete due to the introduction of firearms and was later modified by military engineers.

In the 19th century, it served as a hospital for the condemned detained in the tower and later as a deposit of excavation materials by the Archaeological Superintendence.

Subsequently, the historical relevance of the complex gave it new functions as an exhibition area.

To preserve its homogeneity, a steel structure with wooden platforms has been designed to let the visitors see the original elements of the ancient structures.

Located in the historic district of Castello, Spazio 61 is an exhibition space for temporary and permanent art exhibitions.

"Cultural space, art atelier, gallery: three different ways to say the same thing, to suggest an activity that has the ultimate goal of bringing people together and making people talk and sharing ideas together. This place is called Space 61" (www.sardegnanovas.info).

Spazio 61 is also a cultural association whose purpose is the promotion and dissemination of art and in particular of painting, through various activities including exhibitions of young artists, cultural exchanges between Sardinian and non-Sardinian painters and any other activity necessary for the development and spread of the artistic culture.

The gallery-atelier is located in Cagliari in Via dei Genovesi 48 in the centre of an imaginary line connecting the Elephant Tower and the Cathedral, in the historic medieval district of Castello.
