Santa Chiara Municipal Market
Santa Chiara Market is the oldest among Cagliari Civic Markets.
Inaugurated in 1957, it contains the charm and personality of those years. It is located in the heart of the city, not far from Yenne Square in Stampace district, at the foot of Castello district near Santa Chiara's ladder, designed by Gaetano Cima in 1958.
It is part of the Convent of the Clarisse Nuns, destroyed by the bombing of 1943. It is divided in two floors, of which only one is open today.
It is the typical "small neighborhood market", consisting of a food department of about 300 mq. Gastronomic delicacies sold inside are ideal for a fast meal, for cruise passengers and tourists on holiday and for the daily grocery shopping of the inhabitants.
The Market has recently been transformed into a tourist market and is undergoing an intensive renovation and refurbishment project that has turned it into a tourist destination and a tasting polo of quality food and wine products, also thanks to the presence of a staff able to assist customers in English, French and Spanish language.
From December 2018, the market also boasts an elegant food court to welcome citizens and tourists from breakfast until night.
