The New Opera Season will start on December 11th with seven operas, four of which are Teatro Lirico di Cagliari' new productions. They are Otello, Lucrezia Borgia, Norma, Così fan tutte, Turandot, The haystack of Florence, Rigoletto.
Otello, opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Arrigo Boito, based on Shakespeare's play Othello. It was Verdi's penultimate opera, first performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, on 5 February 1887.

Lucrezia Borgia is a melodramatic opera in a prologue and two acts by Gaetano Donizetti. Felice Romani wrote the Italian libretto after the play Lucrezia Borgia by Victor Hugo, in its turn after the legend of Lucrezia Borgia.

Norma is an opera in two acts by Vincenzo Bellini with libretto by Felice Romani after the play Norma, ou L'infanticide (Norma, or The Infanticide) by Alexandre Soumet.

Così fan tutte, is an opera buffa in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
On show from April 17th to 22nd.
Turandot, an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini to a libretto in Italian by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni.
On show from June 24th to July 2nd.
Il cappello di paglia di Firenze (The Italian Straw Hat), an opera by Nino Rota to an Italian-language libretto by the composer and his mother, Ernesta Rota Rinaldi, based on the play Un chapeau de paille d'Italie by Eugène Labiche and Marc-Michel.

Rigoletto, an opera by Giuseppe Verdi. The Italian libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave based on the 1832 play Le roi s'amuse by Victor Hugo.
