Lacaton & Vassal. Freespace, Transformation, Habiter

Lacaton & Vassal. Freespace, Transformation, Habiter

The Exma Municipal Center hosts from November 29th to December 28th the exhibition Lacaton & Vassal. Freespace, Transformation, Habiter, the first exhibition in Italy dedicated to the thirty-year work of the studio founded by Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal, among the most influential entities in contemporary international architecture.

The exhibition is structured around three thematic cores. The first, Transformation, explores the concept of transforming the existing, interpreted as a precious resource composed of materials, memories, and knowledge on which to build new design possibilities. The dialogue between old and new generates unexpected relationships, new ways of living, and unforeseen user behaviors.

The second section, Habiter, presents ten films produced within various projects, providing direct testimony of the daily lives of inhabitants and how spaces acquire meaning through use.

The third section, Freespace, gathers projects of different scales that illustrate the concept of free space, an open, flexible, and anti-authoritarian design dimension, capable of adapting over time to cultural and environmental transformations.
