The small church is located in Castello district, in the old Jewish quarter. It is a fine example of Catalan Gothic style. The facade has a terminal plate, on which there is a semicircular window, and a portal surmounted by a Gothic arch. The interior consists in a single nave, two spans, a side chapel on the right, the presbytery and the choir. There is a simple ceiling vault on the first two spans and a starry one on the chancel.

The church originally belonged to the Confraternity of the Sacred Mount of Mercy, dedicated to the assistance of the condemned; after the suppression of the order in 1866, it was used with different aims: second headquarter for the Court of Assizes, municipal music school, gym, dormitory and refectory of the small house of Providence.

After many renovation works, the church was re-opened around 2000 and entrusted to the Sovereign Order of Malta, which in turn makes the building accessible, offering explanations about its history and the works of art that it contains.

Descrizione

The Church of Saint Lucia is located in Via Martini, the road that leads from Piazza Indipendenza to Piazza Palazzo. It dates back to the sixteenth century, when it was donated by the Viceroy Don Antonio Cardona to the Poor Clare Sisters, who came from Barcelona under the invitation of Pope Paul III. The building rises above traces of ancient Pisan fortifications, as we can see from the tower incorporated into the construction of the sacristy. From the nearby Piazza Mundula it is possible to see the back of the building, which laid directly on the rock overhanging the underlying Viale Regina Elena. The interior has a single nave with vaulted ceilings and two side chapels; those on the left were obtained from areas taken from the former convent while the chapels of the right side present some differences between them: one has a barrel vault date back to 17th century, while the other has groin vault from the 16th .

In Cagliari there is another church with the same name, located in San Benedetto district.

The church is located over Saint Chiara's hill, close to Piazza Yenne.

Originally dedicated to St. Margaret, as attested by the architectural structure and the inscription "S. MARGARET V.M. 1690 "placed outside, on the lintel of the lateral door, it was founded together with the Convent of the Nuns of St. Clare, which was built at the beginning of fourteenth century in the western slopes of Castello's hill to accommodate the Poor Clare Nuns who remained there until the nineteenth century.

The building presents a decorative baroque style in the pilasters that surround the chapels ,on the capitals and in the frieze above.

During the bombings in 1943, the structures of the monastery were damaged so much that it was shot down. Some ruins are still visible from the point where it was recently placed an elevator that leads to Castello district. However, a great part of the area was re-used in 1957, for the opening of the local market which still exists.

The housing and care of the monument are entrusted to Society of St. Anne, which is located in via Cammino Nuovo n° 9 in Cagliari

Church of Saint Efisio (Stampace)

Descrizione

St. Ephisius Church is situated in the medieval district of Stampace and its origins date back to 430 A.D. It was built above a cave where, according to the tradition, the Saint was detained before his martyrdom.

St. Ephisius Church lies above a limestone cave, about 9 metres deep, commonly known as the prison where he was jailed before his decapitation on Nora's beach, in the year 303 B.C.
The construction of an Oratory belonging to the Confraternity of St. Ephisius, designed by the piedmontese architect Antonio Felice De Vincenti, started 1726. Then, the building was modified and adapted to a more modern style, the Piedmontese Baroque; in 1870 the ancient church was demolished and the new one was accomplished in 1782.
The façade, marked by lesenes in Ionic order, is divided into three sectors by horizontal cornices.
The inside has a rectangular plan, covered  by a barrel vault and characterized by parastades and entablatures of classic inspiration. Three chapels stand on each side, and the presbitery is surmounted by an octagonal dome.
The rich marble decoration gives the church the typical feature of the late XVIII century style. Especially the altars, like the main one by Giovanni Battista Franco, dating back to 1786, and the one in the St. Ephisius chapel, on the right side, dating to 1791. The latter houses the statue of the saint carried in procession on May 1st during the famous religious feast.
In 1798 another altar was erected and dedicated to Christ Cucified in the Confraternity's Oratory, annexed to the church about a century later.
The church houses paintings by Francesco Costa, Domenico Colombino and Sebastano Scaleta, in addition to many precious sculptures, including a neapolitan Ecce Homo from the XVII century.

Descrizione

The church was built in the XVII century, on the premises close to the main house of Ballero family , forming a single complex. It has an octagonal dome finely decorated , and a simple façade with a belfry in which is located the bell, date back to 1679. In the inside, it is housed a shrine of the 18th century and a hand-painted majolica floor. Inside the dome there is a fresco of the four died, probably date back to the time of Eleanor of Arborea, characterized by the fact that all the Moors look in a different direction and have their eyes blindfolded. Above the altar, we find a painting of the 18th in gold leaf, a wood and plaster cross and a statue of Saint Ephisius from the same period.
