Formerly a Sinagogue, it stands in an area that once was the Jewish ghetto. It was converted into a Catholic church after the expulsion of the Jews from Cagliari around 1500. It keeps works by Sardinian painter Giuseppe Deris.

Inside the church there is an only  nave, with three chapels for each side and a little chancel closed by a curvilinear apsis. The lateral chapels are decorated with altars in Baroque style and  they contain different artworks dating back to 17th and 18th century. The Barel vault is decorated with a motif of hexagonal panelled, painted by Ludovico Crispi in 19th century.

In the high altar stands out a wooden crucifix,while on chancel's side are represented St. Maurice and St. Lazzaro, two artwoks by a sardinian artisan, Antonio Caboni, date1824. The facade, preserves the emblem of the Jesuit order, who renovate and enlarge the church in 1661, thanks to the noblewoman Anna Brondo from Villacidro,who made a donation.

Paleochristian complex dating back to the 5th century, which includes the Byzantine-Protoromanesque church (also called Church of SS. Cosma e Damiano) and the Christian necropolis, in which many Byzantine and Roman Age remains were found.

Risen up as Martyrium for the martyr Saturnino, the church was donated to Vittorini monks from Marsiglia, who founded a priorate and renovated the church in Romanic Provençal style. In the first part of the 14th century, during the Catalans siege, the cloister was seriously damaged, tumbling down a century later. The church was restored again in 1484.

Approximately in 1614 began the excavations to find the so called " holy corpses", that is to say martyrs' relics or something supposed to be that, while in 1669, the church was demolished in part, to extract useful materials for the restoration of the Cathedral. In 1714, the chuch was given to the corporation of Medici ad Speziali who dedicated it to their protectors, the Saints Cosma and Damiano.

The church was seriously damaged during the bombing in 1943, and, after several restauration woks, it was opened again to the ritual in 1996.

The Dusay Bulwark is a military architectural testimony built between the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries in the Saint Pancrazio area, in transition between the Middle Ages and the modern age. The space Saint Pancrazio was born as Dusay Bulwark for the defence of the north face of the Castle. In Europe, around the middle of the fifteenth century, the advent of fire guns began a process of adaptation and modernization of military defences of medieval origin. The architectures that characterized that historical period were defined as transitional, but, in fact, they represent a precise response to the needs that emerged from the conditions of war, in any case transitory.
