The Church of Saint Giacomo is one of the parish priests of the Villanova district and overlooks the homonymous square. It was probably built around the middle of the fourteenth century as reported by an ordination of the councilors of Castello and represents an important testimony of the Catalan Gothic architecture in the city. It was restored between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and the current facade, the work of the architect Gaetano Cima, presents stylistic features typical of the neoclassical language.
