Palazzo Arcivescovile

Archbishop’s Palace

The building, is home and residence of the Archbishop of Cagliari from the XII century.

It is situated in an area of Castello district, where also other typical buildings of Cagliari's history (the Cathedral, the Royal Palace, the former Town Hall) are located. Carlo Felice lived there during the Napoleonic period, because of the inadequacy of the Royal Palace. The current appearance of the main façade is due to significant reconstruction works, which took place at the end of the third decade of the last century. On the side wall funerary inscriptions are visible, dating back to the first Christian era. In the inner rooms numerous paintings and archaeological finds are kept; you can also see part of the original structure of the Cathedral, in Romanesque style.
