The building is located in Via Lamarmora between La Purissima Church and the former headquarters of the Archaeological Museum. Made in the eighteenth century it was owned by Masones family.
In the nineteenth century, two important events changed the history of this building: the Marquis Fancesco Amat purchased the palace, modernising and expanding it. The building has two facades: one gives onto Via Lamarmora and the other on Piazza Indipendenza. The facade on Via Lamarmora spread over two floors with a succession of wrought iron balconies. The main entrance leads to a large hall whose ceiling is decorated with the coat of arms of the Amat family.
