The building named “Legione dei Carabinieri di Cagliari” is located in Via Sonnino, in front of Piazza Gramsci, in the district of Villanova. The building was planned by the engineers Angelo Binaghi and Flavio Scano.

The construction began at the end of 1930 and was inaugurated in 1933 when the building was not finished yet. The edifice of pentagonal structure, is characterized by redundant forms. In the upper part it is possible to admire four large bronze sculptures made by the sculptor Albino Manca, representing naked male figures symbolizing "The Fascist age, The Justice, The New Youth and The Duty". On the top are visible crests and mottos belonging to Carabinieri Corps, reported in Latin and in Italian: "Pro patria contra omnes -Pro neminem against me"; " Obey in silence and die in silence".

A commemorative plaque was placed along Carlo Felice road in honour of Saint Agostino of Ippona, where the remains of the famous father and doctor of the Church rested for more than two hundred years. The body of the saint reached Cagliari in 507-508 with the North African diaspora and following the vandal conquest.

Agostino took refuge in Ippona together with other bishops and the comes Bonifacio, when he was expelled from Carthage. But, at the beginning of the siege by the Vandals, he was hit by a fatal disease and, after three months, on August 28, 430, he died at the age of 75.

In 718 his coffin, venerated for centuries in Cagliari where he had been taken by exiles who fled the Vandal invasion of North Africa, was transported by the Lombard king Liutprando from Sardinia to Pavia. Since then his remains are kept in the basilica of Saint Pietro in Ciel d'Oro.

In the Castello district, in Canelles street, a commemorative plaque was posted in honour of the Sardinian bishop who created the first typography in Sardinia in 1566, contributing to the spread of movable printing characters. Nicolò Canelles was one of the leading exponents of ecclesiastical Sardinia in the sixteenth century and one of the most cultured humanists of his time.
